Barge Workers Transport Supplies. Pulau Ketam, Selangor, Malaysia.
Pulau Ketam, literally translated, means "Crab Island", is a small island located off the coast of Selangor. The island is famed for its "floating houses" that come to view as visitors approach the island. Perching casually on long wooden stilts, these dwellings are suspended about one to four metres above sea level. There are no cars in Pulau Ketam, only bicycles.
It plays a role as a major sea food supplier to the Klang valley. The locals are mainly Teochew and Hoklo (Hokkien) Chinese, with Teochew, Hokkien and Mandarin Chinese being the main dialects spoken.
